To be sure, an R8 is never slow to begin with. But it gets even faster when tuned by ABT Sportsline. Then it will be very brawny indeed, without any excess weight whatsoever. The R8 GT R edition is limited to 25 cars, and for its design the designers and engineers also made use of the experiences they had gained in motorsports. All components are lightweight and geared to an ideal weight distribution. The bonnet, front apron, rear apron, the adjustable rear wing, the hatchback, the aerofoil lip, the exterior mirrors and the door lining are all made of carbon. The side windows are made of Macrolon, which doesn't only reduce weight, but is also very robust. The ABT GT R is thus more than 100 kg lighter than the serial version.
